God Save the Queen

I was seconds away from slagging the Sex Pistols on this blog. Then I saw this:

If that ain't rock n' roll, then I don't know what is. Holy fuckin' shit...

  2. Why slag the Pistols? Admittedly, not the world's most talented band, and with only one good album, but if you had been in high school in the late 1970s, as I was, you'd remember them as one of the saviors of rock and roll.

I'll never think this is anything but a great song. Thanks for posting the vid.

  3. I quite liked: Who killed Bambi. That was in the Great rock 'n' roll swindle and was tenpole tudor, but it was funny.

  4. Brendan,
I happened at the time to be thinking about "selling out" and about "posers" and "cynicism", etc. Naturally the Pistols/McLaren came to mind. Watching this vid, though, reminded me that there was something there, all the hype and bullshit aside...

    Verilion,
    Yeah, that's a good one...

  5. The sex pistols today deserve to be slagged. But for one brief moment they were like unto gods.

  6. I'm pretty much in agreement with you, Mr. Angry.
It was the memory of their brief glory that stayed my hand.

  7. Ahh, the Sex Pistols; good band, but would have been even better had they written about slightly more mystical stuff, maybe elongated their songs a bit with some longer solos from each instrument, possibly got Roger Dean in to do an album cover...

  8. Shit,
Yeah, and maybe they should have had more keyboards in their tunes and the singer should have had a high, kind of whiny voice...
Imagine if all of U.K. punk had sounded like that...

    Hey, wait a minute...
