A character in a lost play by Euripides (Aeolus, Fragment 19) asks an interesting question: τί δ' αἰσχρὸν ἤν μὴ χρωμενοῖς δοκῇ; (Is anything shameful if it does not seem so to those doing it?)
In Mexico, shame is an unknown concept. Here, prohibited actions are performed as if they were mandatory. If you don't take advantage of honest people, you're regarded as an idiot. Should I go on...?jajajaja.
That's because we usually behave when we are somewhere else. All the stationary stock at the office has been moved to the storeroom because it was sneaked out, and the sodas for the visitors are locked. Not so far, yesterday, $100 pesos (around $9 USCy) were stolen from my drawer. Sure, trust Mexicans there, they're cool people, as long as they continue there. Would you invite me over? lol.

ReplyDeleteAww, come on, there must be lots of other nice people there like you! I knew several Mexicans in university and they were pretyy cool...
