Poor House

From the Dept. of Sublime Rock 'N' Roll Lyrics, we have the following gem:
I wanna live in a burned out basement,
Live in a basement in the sky
I wanna live in a burned out basement,
Live in a basement when I die

Burning Brides, "Poor House"

Following the basic principle that good rock 'n' roll conveys meaning without actually saying anything, the above lyric is clearly a winner. They're words to live by, in fact...

  1. Hmm, yes, a lot and nothing said, eh.
Well, I'll leave it up to someone else to live in a burned out basement - I've got other dreams and moods

  2. Ah, but, AV, you're letting the actual words get in the way of the meaning (although they frequently serve as "clues")!
The following serves well as the paradigm of what I'm getting at:

    A-wop-bop-a-loo-mop alop-bom-bom

That, of course, is from Little Richard's "Tutti Frutti". Any questions?

  3. Ah well, then we may as well do metal heads and just scream a lot. Same thing, innit?

I wonder who's mop Little Richard was wopping...

  4. Same thing, innit?

I don't believe you really think Little Richard and "metal heads" convey the same feeling!

What I want to know is, who put the bomp in the bomp bomp bomp bomp?

  5. I was lyin' in a burned-out basement
with a full moon in my eyes
    I was hopin' for replacement
when the sun burst thru the sky
there was a band playin' in my head
and I felt like getting high
I was thinkin' about what a friend had said
    I was hoping it was a lie. . .
