  2. Thanks, Glenn. I'm currently locked in battle with my wife over our next camera purchase. She wants one of those little things that you can tuck in your pocket. Admittedly, one of those would be an improvement over what I've got now, but I'm angling for something a bit bigger and mightier. I'm going to lose.

  3. You're not going to like what I'm going to say, but here goes ... I've had Nikon 35 mm SLR's (that's plural) since 1981 when I got my first. I never took as many pictures as I now do with my little Nikon Coolpix. I can carry it in my shirt pocket, and it never gets as heavy as my SLR's. 90% of the pictures on my site were shot with the little guy and not with his big brothers. I use them for more controlled environments, like when I do my theatre shots.

  4. Reminds me of the term "Irrefutable logic" made manifest.

  5. I am very dumb about cameras. What I know about pictures is what I see (very empiric, I must add).

Here it goes - in november I went to Egypt with a quite large group of people. This people(including my husband) happen to be experts and Phd's (in the literal sense) in image processing. Obviously they brought very good equipment to take the best angles of the piramids and etc. I carried a Sony digital pocket camera with me - precisely one of those your wife wants to buy.

A couple of weeks ago I had a look at the pictures taken by those robust and big cameras. Honestly? Mine were not so different. At least not worse enough to make me pay AND carry those giant stuff.

I bet you are gonna lose...

  6. Claudia and Glenn,

You're both probably right. A new camera (*any* new camera) will be a big improvement.

    Susan,

    Yeah, that works for me!

  7. Advantage of small cameras... you can pull them out of your pocket in any situation and SHOOT!
