Meters

  1. We have that same wall color here. Is the world so small today?

  2. Glenn,
I know what you mean, but I suspect that this is a pretty standard color all over the world. Strangely, I'm not sure if that confirms or refutes the "small world" thesis!

  3. In Brazil we call this color "terracota". It's highly popular among the medium class. Guess it's because people want to feel in the woods after a long day in the asphalt.

  4. Claudia,
So that's terracotta! (I'm not good with the names of con-primary colors!)

  5. Er *non*-primary colors...

  6. Oh, I love "con-primary colors"! Much more poetic and faithful to the word.

I think I will stick to it and USE it in the future. If anyone argues with me I will tell them I learned it from a highly experienced English teacher (and a native speaker of the language!) ;-)

  7. Well, if the non-primary colors disagreed with the primary colors, then they would be "con-primary" colors. I'm not sure of the names of the con-primary colors.

  8. No, no, I was thinking about the other meaning of con - the one that goes well with Sawyer(Lost). What do you think?

  9. Claudia,
OK, the con-primary colors are very good at their game. So good that nobody knows their names!

  10. Now everything falls into place. The meters are there to measure the level of the "coniness" of that tricky terracotta. You can't go soft with those evil colors... ;-)

  11. You all get up pretty early in the morning and I come in late when I'm on the reference desk! What's this about Sawyer in Lost? My husband picked out the paint color called terracotta for two rooms when we had to renovate the house after Hurricane Katrina. Inside, it's a beautiful warm muted brownish color like a flower-pot, but on the porch when the sun hits it, it's just flat-out plain bright orange! sp

  12. Oh, Sussah, I think I will leave to the owner of this blog the hard task to explain to you all the non-sense, mumble jumble we wrote this morning.

By the way - Sawyer is a character of Lost. He used to be a conman before redemption forced him to be a much less interesting guy...

  13. I read your conversation carefully and I now see how a one-letter typo can lead directly to thoughts of Sawyer. happy weekend, sp
