I guess by now anyone who cares has seen or heard about holy-roller Pat Robertson's comments suggesting that problems in Haiti are a result of a pact the Haitian people made with the devil to get out from under the French.
Leave it to a god-bothering racist piece of shit like Robertson to attribute an important moment in history to Satan. In case anyone is unaware of it, the Haitian Revolution is considered to be the first and only successful slave revolt in the New World, and it resulted in Haiti being the first republic ruled by people of African ancestry.
Pact with the devil, indeed.
We may never hear Pat Robertson (and others like him) say the word "nigger" out loud. But we don't really have to, do we?

ReplyDeleteYeah, I think you're right about that, Susan. As I recall Robertson was blaming Katrina on the "abortionists" and "the gays" or black gay abortionists or something. He's an idiot.
ReplyDeleteNot only is stupid forever, stupid is so stupid, it doesn't know when to shut up. Robertson did, in fact, blame Katrina on the abortionists and the gays. I don't know about the abortionists ... I've never learned how to "spot" them in public without the baby fetuses dangling from around their necks, and I don't believe I've ever seen them carousing on Bourbon Street or marching in Mardi Gras parades; but the gays are another story. According to Robertson, the hurricane was God's judgment on the Sodom of the South. Unfortunately for Robertson's thesis, His aim was off, and He missed the French Quarter where most of the gays go to party and where, I've heard from people who stayed behind, the abortionists were, in fact, actually to be seen during those early days and nights carousing on Bourbon Street. How did those people know they were abortionists? Well, from those baby fetuses ...

ReplyDeleteFor your information, Haiti was also the first country to recognize the 1821 Greek revolution against the Ottoman rule, and the Greek state. The ex-slaves expressed their solidarity to another people's struggle for independence, by sending loads of their local product, coffee, that could be sold to fund our revolution. As far I know, they also tried to send some troops or somethings although they never made it.
