It's Funny Because It's True

To my mind, the truest, funniest moment of the most honest rock "documentary" ever made:

I've seen that a million times, and it still makes me laugh...

  1. So I didn't really need to watch that, as I have seen Spinal Tap about 8 times (Lost Boys the only one I've watched more times).

But, yes, it's a very salient critique of the artist's hidden agenda.

  2. I really need to watch this someday. Everyone keeps hailing it as a masterpiece and throwing around clips lately.

  3. ArtSparker,
"The artist's hidden agenda"... That has a nice ring to it... Yeah...
    ;-)

    Rob,
You haven't seen Spinal Tap? I don't (seriously) know about "masterpiece," but it's pretty damned funny. Well worth a look!

  4. The more I watch it, the funnier it gets. There are so many in-jokes that they sometimes slip by. Lord knows, every single time I see it I see something new. There are really layers on layers.I think Rob Reiner really has been getting it done. Is there a bad Reiner film out there? But in terms of a really sharp commentary on everything that should really not be in rock and roll, and everything that should, he sort of hits all the notes. As Rick says, It may not be a masterpiece, but it's extremely well done.
