The Funniest Thing I've Read Today

A couple of excerpts from Atlas Shrugged Updated for the Current Financial Crisis:
She sat across the desk from him. She appeared casual but confident, a slim body with rounded shoulders like an exquisitely engineered truss. How he hated his debased need for her, he who loathed self-sacrifice but would give up everything he valued to get in her pants ... Did she know?

--------------------

"And that's why I created the financial plan you found. It's true, it works. But it is not sustainable. It will ruin this country's financial system, and then we'll see how those who despise us prosper when their lenders and investors refuse to invest or lend." He laughed joylessly. "Funny, isn't it? I must destroy the very thing I love in order to save it."

"Just to avoid paying taxes?"

"I do not compromise my beliefs, and I will kill anyone who asks me to!"
Great stuff!

  1. Re the first quote (getting past the striking bit about the woman looking like a truss), BusinessWeek had a story that mortgage wholesalers traded sex for business from independent mortgage brokers. So, not that far off. Maybe you were referring to that?

  2. Artsparker,
Actually, I wasn't referring to anything beyond Atlas Shrugged and its (linked) parody, which included the current financial stuff.
Just to be clear (because I detect some... impatience--please correct me if I'm wrong!), it's not that I found a "woman looking like truss" to be amusing, but rather I found this image to be an accurate description (in parody) of the logical conclusion of Ayn Rand's philosophy re: women.
I'm probably writing more than is necessary here, but as a husband and the father of a daughter (my only child) I'd like to think that I have some knowledge of and respect for women. I'm possibly a bit old-fashioned, but I find Rand's views on women offensive, and therefore open to parody.
