I suppose it's kinda sappy and all, but tonight I got a big kick out of watching my daughter watch
E.T. (the Spielberg movie). At one point she turned to me and said, "E.T.'s
a kid, isn't he Daddy?" Actually, that was only one of many sage observations and pointed questions, but you perhaps get the general drift...
There is something about watching a film you love with a child...just because watching something together is such a communal thing anyway. I remember watching a scary film with my nephews, one of whom announced that he would have nightmares before returning his fascinated gaze to the screen. sure enough, he woke his Dad up in the middle of the night.
ReplyDeleteArtSparker,
ReplyDeleteMy daughter likes scary movies, too. I don't mind indulging her as long as I've already seen the movie and know what's coming. A good monster movie is usually OK with me, but I wouldn't want her to see a lot of what is called "horror" these days (anything with knives and sex, for example).
