Ceiling (3)

Tonight my daughter asked me, "Daddy, what's the biggest number?"

"I don't know," I said. "How high can you count?"

  1. My sister is 18 years younger than me. When my mother decided it was time to stop breastfeeding her, she left Ana with me and traveled to the South.

Ana was 2 years old and obviously very attached to our mother... Well, the first two days were awful - she screamed like hell, she even tried to hit me when I told her "Mummy is not here, you will have to sleep without a breast".

In the third day I put her into her bed and stayed there ready for another tantrum. But nope, Ana was calm, mysteriously peaceful. We had a little chat in the dark. And then, it came: "Cláudia, can you see there, up in the ceiling?" No, I couldn't. "There, Cláudia, the clown, he is smiling at you....".

That was her revenge. I freaked out inside. The routine remained unaltered until I urged my mother to come back immediately.

Nowadays Ana is a normal 27-year-old woman. But for a moment I thought we were dealing with either a medium or a schizophrenic. I guess she was just behaving like a very upset child...

  2. Claudia,
Yes, there he is. Look! He's reaching down to touch you!
    ;-)
Ana sounds like she has quite the imagination!
