This looks a little bit like the scene under the bridge just down the road from where we live - only your weather's looking a whole lot kinder - and your person seems a lot more organised!
AV, Yes, the homeless that I've seen here seem to have a great deal of pride (they don't beg, for example). In fact many of them have jobs, but they don't have the "key money" to get an apartment (up to 7 months rent before you can move in).
