Color of Life

I've got nothing of my own right now, so please enjoy the following video selection. I don't have much in the way of comment about it, because I don't really know anything about it, except that it's a clip from defunct Japanese TV show called Vermillion Pleasure Night. It's really pretty interesting and cool, both visually and musically, for what it's worth. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

  1. Rick, this is enchanting and surreal.

That lady who sings scared me a lot. Her eyes, her ghostly look! It seems that she is bound to commit a murder anytime soon. But thanks to the English captions we rest assured that her(?)crisis is only about petty things like having her fingers wrinkled by cold water...

The drama invoked by the song, the voice and the instruments does not match with the lyrics. Or, maybe I am wrong and Japanese women tired of washing clothes, especially if they suffer from PMS, may get to a point of no return...

In any case, thread carefully whenever your lovely daughter and wife are busy washing clothes ;-)

  2. Claudia,
I'm glad you liked it. As for the singer, I know what you mean. I don't think she blinks at all. The Japanese really do a much better job than Hollywood at conveying a sense of creepiness (and they do it without any special effects). But that's only one (briefly shown) aspect of the clip. There's a lot of (I think) very Japanese stuff going on there.
BTW (and only because you've asked me to do this): I think you mean "*tread* (walk) carefully." ;-)

  3. Thanks, Rick! I am glad we have reached a point where you don't feel the need to tread carefully when correcting my English mistakes. Please, keep doing that - it helps me a lot!

Your blog gives me a lot of joy, even when you are groaning like that famous green guy ;-)
