Rainbow in the Dark

I don't listen to this sort of stuff much these days, but this classic tune from Ronnie James Dio still makes me want to bang my head any time I hear it. Possibly the best metal singer ever, Ronnie James Dio has died.

Good job, buddy.

You Make My Motor Run

I've never believed that over-playing a song somehow makes it crappy. Were we wrong to like it when it was fresh?

Doug Fieger of The Knack passed away yesterday.

Good job, buddy.

In Passing...

A couple of genuine rock 'n' roll luminaries died recently...

It's pretty hard to find a video of The Stooges that features Ron Asheton, their original guitar (and later bass) player. Iggy's a bit of a camera hog...

[Asheton's work with Destroy All Monsters also comes with Kyklops' highest recommendation.]

Lux Interior also died recently. Being the lead singer of The Cramps, he was always at the front of the stage.

"I've got 96 tears and 96 eyes" (from "Human Fly"): yeah!

Vampira

I don't know how I missed this, but I just found out that Maila Nurmi (aka Vampira) passed away in January. As an icon from my youth, she's right up there with Godzilla, Bela Lugosi's Dracula, Boris Karloff's Frankenstein, all the biggies. There's no denying the huge influence she had (and continues to have) on popular culture. She was pretty hot, too...

It's a Man's Man's Man's World

James Brown has died. I guess people will argue about James Brown, the man. There can be no argument about James Brown, the artist.
