Reasoned and impassioned, New York State Senator Diane Savino argues as well as anyone I've ever heard for marriage equality. Watch the whole thing. It's worth it.
Thirty-four years? That deserves congratulations! I hope I can do as well.
I have to confess that when I was younger I was a bit of a fence-sitter on this issue. Not "against," really. Just kinda doubtful. Stuck between old and new, perhaps, like (it seems) so many things.
The more I thought about it, though, the more unreasonable it seemed to withhold support. Sen. Savino nicely articulated many of my own thoughts about marriage, etc.
Hey, Rick, all anyone (any of us?) ever really wanted was to be able to be there at the end to say a final "I love you ... I have always loved you ... and I always will love you ... and, please, just wait for me ... I won't be long ... "
Great speech. Thanks for posting it. By the way, Bobby and me? Thirty-four years this-coming May.
