Waves

[Typhoon updates are here.]

I took a drive to the ocean after work yesterday to see what (if any) effect Typhoon Man-yi was having on the ocean hereabouts. The water was a little choppy, but I imagine it's a lot worse this morning.

I'm (sadly) discovering that taking pictures in crappy weather is very difficult. Sure, the lighting is bad and what not, but the biggest obstacle is the fear of getting my camera wet! Anyway, here are a few (kinda crappy) photos of the ocean that I took yesterday. (Click to enlarge.)

  1. gorgeous photos. I've always thought the colors in Japanese painting was so highly stylized, but these pictures make sense of those paintings.

  2. Daniel, thanks for the kind words, although you're possibly giving me more credit than I deserve... ;-)

  3. Mmmm... Have you tried to cover your camera with food plastic, so the case is safe? I've also heard there are special caps to place on top of the lens to prevent them from getting wet...
Or maybe you should try purchasing a submarine camera! =D

  5. Uh oh, the mention of gadgets has got you going. I have a friend who uses a ziplock bag, but that aside, these are great photos. I LOVE STORMS.

  6. Verilion, I love storms too, but typhoons can be scary to venture out in. Any photos here are of the before/after variety!

  7. I never said I wasn't scared! I think I have experienced two hurricanes in my whole life and I stayed firmly indoors for all of them. My parents stories of their rooves blowing off during cyclones instilled a healthy fear in me.
