Ultra Light

Damn, I could really use a smoke right now. Quitting smoking sucks. I'll stick with it, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. In fact, I wouldn't recommend starting, either.

  2. Keep it up, keep it up, keep it up! I only ever smoked occasionally when we were undergrads, many years ago, we smoked the minty ones, but I know it's hell to quit, well done for getting this far.

  3. Thanks, to you, too, nmj! I have moments of despair, but I'm pretty sure I can beat it this time!

  4. I am also struggling with stopping smoking... And sad to say, I failed miserably this time. So much so, that my sleeping pattern is screwed and I'm now at work having not slept a wink all night. Bugger.

I did find the Allen Carr book - the 'Easy Way to Stop Smoking' to be very good. Well worth a read, if you want to smash the psychology of it all. Could be the best five quid you've ever spent.

Now if I can just stop starting again...

Stick with it, mate. I found out today some of the things that cigarettes have in them. The roll of honour includes cyanide, ammonia, formaldehyde and staggeringly, Polonium-210. Yes, the radioactive agent that recently killed the Russian spy in London.

Apparently there are 43 - 43! - known carcinogens in cigarette smoke, and over 4,000 different chemicals.

I can't help but think that the cigarette companies are Satan. I mean, cigarettes are actually pretty small, right? I am amazed that they can even FIT so many nasties in the bloody things.

It CAN'T be an accident. I mean, can you imagine the board meeting...

"This nicotine is quite good. But it needs a bit of a kick, something to make it just that little bit better..."

"How about Cyanide? That would be fun."

    "Cyanide? Isn't that dangerous?"

"Well, yeah, but it goes with the tough guy image."

  5. Hi Chez,
Yeah, there's no doubt that the guys at the smoke companies are minions of evil and purveyors of doom, etc. I blame only myself, though, for starting and continuing for so long.
But hey, it's been almost 2 months now for me. If I can do it, anyone can!!
